The Way We Were Show

'The Way We Were' is a fantastic musical journey back in time to the the Fifties and Sixties. The live performance is now into its second year after enjoying massive success at the park and receiving high praise from all those who have seen it. Do you remember the world of 'Teddy Boys', seaside trips, jukeboxes, and miniskirts? Where were you when Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon and do you remember what it felt like when England won the World Cup?

Now in its second year with new songs and stunning costumes and choreography ‘The Way We Were’ is a lively, energetic, fantastic show, with Daytime and Evening performances during the year with a fabulously talented cast of singers and musicians. This show will take you through all the sights and sounds of the 1950’s and 1960’s, from Be-Bop and Rock & Roll to the swinging sounds of that era

Set in The Way We Were Diner you are invited to sit back and enjoy a two course lunch, afternoon cream tea and an experience that we have you on your feet shouting for more!

    How much is the Deposit?

  • The deposit is £5 per person, the final balance needs to be paid a month before the date of your performance.
  • Do you have disabled access?

  • The Pavilion where the performance is held is completely wheelchair friendly, advise the Box Office of your requirements and they can position you on suitable tables.
  • Do you offer special dietary meals?

  • We do offer special dietary meals, advise the Box Office and they will offer a alternative meal, we can cater for any special dietary requirements.
  • How can we pay for our booking?

  • You can pay over the telephone with a credit or debit card, send in a cheque made payable to Wicksteed Park or you can pay in cash, all bookings must be paid for a month in advance of your performance date. We can send invoices if you require them.
  • When do the Christmas Performances commence?

  • The Christmas Performance commences on Sunday 14 November.

    Meet the Cast: David Kettle (Director / Lead Vocals)

    David Kettle, Director and lead vocalsDavid Kettle studied music and drama in London and Rome and performed in many leading West End and touring Musical productions both in the UK and on the continent. In recent years, David has been much sought after for his creative and directing talents.

     

    Meet the Cast: Katie Ashby

    Katie AshbyWicksteed Park’s very own Yorkshire lass Katie trained in Leeds and began treading the boards from a very early age. Katie’s first professional outings were in various Pantomimes for QDOS productions performing alongside stars David Essex, Russ Abbot, Su Pollard and Jim Davidson. This lead Katie to embark on a varied career performing all over the world.

     

    Meet the Cast: Gavin James Burke

    Gavin BurkeGavin began his career at the age of 10, performing and training with the English National Opera under the careful guidance of Jennifer Lillystone (ARCM) and at the Colechester Institute. He performed at the London Coliseum in nine of their productions.

     

    Meet the Cast: Nichola Roberts

    Nichola RobertsNichola trained at the London School of Musical Theatre and since leaving college has worked as a singer professionally ever since. Her work has taken her to many different countries including Turkey, Italy and Spain as well as the UK where she has worked in Hotels, Cabaret Venues and Theatres in various different shows. Nichola has also worked abroad as a Kylie Minogue tribute artist .

    Meet the Cast: Laura Clinton

    Laura ClintonOriginally from Coventry, Laura started studying performing arts at Coventry University, she then went on to Blackpool and the Flyde College of Arts to study Musical Theatre. Since graduating she has had ongoing vocal training at Central Voice Studios by Sarah Wright-Owens and West End Musical Director Stephen Owens.

    Meet the Cast: Louise Hart

    Louise HartLouise trained at Middlesex University where she studied Performing Arts majoring in Dance. Since graduating she has worked for Costa Cruises as a Dancer and Head Dancer, The Jimmy Tarbuck Show ‘A Big Night Out’ at the opening of the new Bridlington Spa Theatre, toured schools with a Theatre in Education group as Aladdin in Aladdin, and performed for many corporate entertainment evenings.

    Meet the Cast: Suzi Budd (Choreographer)

    Suzi Budd, Choreographer‘The Way We Were’ is Suzi’s most recent project for Wicksteed Park, having been involved with their resident production shows since 2005. She originally performed in the shows before concentrating solely on the choreographic side, joining forces with David Kettle and John Roberts to form a dynamic production team.

    Kevin Hartnett (Musical Director / Keyboards)

    Kevin Hartnett, Musical Director‘Kevin is the nephew of outstandingly popular fifties television start – singer, Joan Regan. Kevin began learning the piano at the age of eleven when it soon became apparent that he had a natural talent, progressing smoothly through the grades, before switching the studying jazz and improvisation. He says that the late jazz pianist, Claude Hodgson, who taught him for four years, was the greatest influence in his musical career.

    Adrian Brown (Lead Guitarist)

    Adrian Brown, Lead GuitarFrom Broadstairs in Kent, Adrian has been a professional musician for almost 40 years, working on many TV shows, radio, recording sessions, West End theatre, clubs and provincial theatre. Work has taken Adrian around the world, playing in many countries including America, Australia and New Zealand.

    Dan Church (Drummer)

    Dan Church, DrummerDan Church has been playing the drums since the age of 10. In the late 90’s he gained a degree in Jazz in London and went on to help indie band ‘Cousteau’ get a gold disc and appeared on Radio 2 and Later with Jools Holland amongst others. After the band ended he played in many Rock and Roll shows including ‘Elvis’, ‘Rockin On Heaven’s Door’, and ‘In Dreams’

    Ian Smith (Bass Guitar)

    Ian Smith, Bass GuitaristIan left school in 1969 aged 14 to work in Top Rank and Palais house bands up and down the country. In the mid 70’s he worked the Baileys cabaret circuit and toured with Dick Emery, Bob Monkhouse and Bruce Forsyth. Session work and arranging filled Ian’s days and he became involved with many touring American artists such as Jnr. Walker, The Chi-Lites, Curtis Mayfield, Edwin Starr and many others
